Title: Pinuzzo stunned after the quarantine
Technique: Oil on Canvas with precius stones (Mokaite, Onice, black spinel,Malachite)
Dimension: 40×50
Realization year: 04/2020
Description:
The painting was conceived in a completely ironic way during the Pandemic period (Coronavirus emergency April 2020), in order to play down and sanction this historical event never experienced before.
The work recalls symbolism as a cultural movement of the figurative arts of the 19th century Pinuzzo stunned after quarantine, so the name is attributed to a snowy owl who usually lives in Québec. Metaphorically, it represents that slice of people from all over the world who survived the virus but were affected by serious pathologies such as depression or post-quarantine disorientation, consequences due to the government’s impositions of having to be locked up in the house for too long.
The strong protrusion of the bird’s eyes, the crucial point of the work, deliberately characterized by an interpenetration of Onyx in the Mokaite, makes the Owl ironically in a state of stunning.
In addition, the green mask abandoned on the ground is embellished with Malachite (a symbol of malaise), as if it were a bad memory left behind. The rainbow, on the other hand, is an excellent omen and a hymn to life, it leads the viewer to think that after the storm, the sun always comes out.
Two fingernails of the bird penetrate the ice (white represents good) and were made with black Spinel (which represents evil).
