BUIE BELL TOWER
Title: “Buie Bell Tower”
Technique: Mixed media on canvas with native stones
Dimensions: 70×100 cm
Year: 05/2017
Description:
The architectural subject realized in this work, constitute an experiment in extemporary painting. The prevalent acrylic technique result in a less soft stroke if compared with the oil painting which I generally prefer.
St. Servolo’s Church of the small town of Buie in Croatia, with it’s separated bell tower, was built in the 16Th century under the venetian period. I tried to revisit in a more modern key St. Mark’s lion’s coat of arms, show on the upper part of the bell tower, by using golden massive pigments, while the lower part with local stone and a final layer of spatulated acrylic varnish.
